A Note From Your Publisher: North Poconos/Hazleton Information

Situations Are Changing Quickly and We Will Keep You Updated

By Joey Lynn Walko March 14, 2020

This is an uncertain time, and things seem to be changing by the day -- if not the hour -- with coronavirus and the reaction to it as health officials and the government try to slow its spread.

Macaroni Kid North Poconos/Hazleton has been updating our calendar as we hear of cancellations. For instance, Home Depot and Lowe's have canceled their kids' workshops nationwide for the time being. Michaels has canceled their kids' crafting events until further notice. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has requested that all public libraries in our state close until Sunday, March 29th. The LCCC Benco Dental Clinic has postponed their free cavity prevention day for kids and I will update the calendar with the new date as soon as it is announced. All non-essential businesses have closed and many restaurants have shut down their dining areas and have switched to only offering take out and delivery.

If you hear of any event cancellations not reflected on the Macaroni Kid North Poconos/Hazleton events calendar, please reach out to me at joeyw@macaronikid.com or on our Facebook Page and I will update the calendar. Follow us on Facebook where we will be sharing information regarding where to pick up school lunches locally, which restaurants are offering take out and delivery, any changes to local businesses store hours, where to find free educational resources for your children, and links to virtual museum tours and zoo visits.

Please watch the CDC, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Luzerne, Lackawanna, and Wayne counties Health Department for the latest news.

And, of course, please take care of yourselves and your family. (But leave some toilet paper for the rest of us.)
